I do appreciate all the advice, I didn't expect so many comments, lol! So far the fish have been fine. Mr. Pikko used to raise bettas, so he knows what to do to get them to get along. He tried to mate two of em, but that didn't go so well. He moved the pleco outside to eat up the algae out there and will move him back indoors tonight if he's still alive!

If its the regular plecosomus then yeah, it'll get 2 ft. in length. Assaggio at Ala Moana has a fish pond in front of it, you can see some of the 2+ feet guys in there. Once they get bigger than your fish, they'll try and eat the fish by sucking on their sides. Fun stuff... :p A bushy nose pleco stays about 3" in length as well as other varieties, just have to look them up.

Female bettas aren't as territorial as males and are able to coexist together, don't fret. I'm guessing from the pic that you have an Eclipse 12 or bigger system. The rule is 1 gallon per fish inch, you should be fine as long as you do weekly water changes. The male betta will be fine in the pond though he's more susceptible to outside elements. i.e. Bird might go fishing.

Sorry for the long post, but I thought some of the previous posters might've freaked you out.

I think they sell some algae discs for your pleco cause your tank looks really clean. The discs sink to the bottom so he can eat it.

I can't tell very well from the picture, is that a female betta or a molly, and how many do you have, just the one? The males tend to be very territorial and will fight other males, I don't think they will bother the other fish. Mary is right about the pleco, they are great for cleaning up some of the debris off the bottom of the tank but they will get pretty dang big, and it doesn't matter how little your tank is. Those small, plexi tanks have a built in filtration system so there should be enough water aeration for the pleco and the neons. Bettas are surface breathers so they will be fine even in a bowl.

The main thing is to keep it clean, the smaller the tank, the more important it is to do partial water changes regularly. I can't tell you how many fish tanks we had when I was a kid, salt water, fresh water, plus I worked at a pet shop for awhile. I'm staring right now at a 72 gal. tank we don't know what to do with! Might be fun to set it up with oodles of little neons darting about. I just don't want a bunch of big fish again though. Big fish = big poopies.

actually, common plecos are omnivores and need to be fed like the other fish. They grow to be over 2 feet long no matter the tank size and produce a lot of waste. I would advise taking back all the females, the pleco, and I'm not sure about the viability of keeping the male betta in a pond. The females will probably eventually kill each other and the neon tetras if the waste production from them and especially the pleco doesn't kill them first. In an uncycled tank, it'll be even worse. Check out this link: http://www.fishlore.com/NitrogenCycle.htm Your fish will probably be getting sick soon, and this will explain some questions... Sorry if this sounds rude, but I'm trying to quickly cover the beginner-mistake bases here. Fishkeeping is deceptively complicated. Good luck. :)
