Daisy Curry Bento (499)
I meant to post this yesterday, but ended up just completely forgetting. It’s been a long week and since Mr. Pikko has been sick, I’ve had to drive to and from work for most of the week. This always tires me out as I’m used to a little nap on the way in. Summertime begins soon and this will be the first true summer for Baby Girl. I’ve been trying to deal with the idea of making two bentos every day and I keep thinking, well, at least you can’t be “tardy” for summer programs. She’s probably gotten 30 tardies this year as a combination of her not waking up, me having too many things to put in the car, and them just not getting in the car. Most of the time, she just refuses to get out of bed.

I made this really quickly yesterday morning with a frozen Japanese curry packet I got at Marukai. It tasted really good, but was a little spicy and sparse on the veggies, so I boiled a whole carrot and tossed it in. That added a lot of volume and made the meal feel bigger in a healthy way.
For the rice, I added some happy daisies as a last entry into hapa bento’s May BOMB. I used a flower from my gum paste cutter set. I have other flower cutters from charaben sets, but this one has curlier petals and so I like it better.

I was going to just put the faces on the yellow, but decided it would look better with a center and added some pepperjack circles before putting on the nori faces. I put two green leaf baran underneath so that you could see them better.
If you’re thinking that cheese and rice and curry sounds gross, I did too, until I first ate at Curry House Coco Ichibanya and saw cheese on the menu as a topping. People loved it and even though I’d never tasted it before, I went for it yesterday and it did taste pretty good!
I’m sad to say that I’m no longer packing because a lot of things are up in the air and the bottom line is, the electrical in the house is so old, we have to replace it before moving in. So, now it’s time to unpack my clothes!
On to the Kir de Vries winner!

Congratulations bunny! Thank you again to Kristin for sponsoring this giveaway, I’m sure she’ll be happy to hear all of your favorites!

This is another box I haven’t used yet, so maybe if I can find it, I’ll put it to use at last… This is Box #028.
