Quick Karaage Bento
I don’t have much time to post, so today’s post will be short and sweet. Tomorrow will be the last bento of the Christmas season as I’m off work from Wednesday.

I actually slapped this together in about five minutes using leftovers. I added the rice first, then a few pieces of leftover chicken karaage (the recipe for this is in Yum-Yum Bento Box). After that I used a small piece of green leaf lettuce as a “cup” for my cucumber pickles and takuan. For red, I added an ume and two grape tomatoes, one of the first from Mr. Pikko’s tomato plants!
My Christmas party bento caused a lot of emotional trauma. When I saw Baby Girl after school, she said that she never got the bento. The school had forgotten it in the fridge and she didn’t know I’d dropped it off, so she thought I just left her high and dry with nothing. I was so mad and frustrated and annoyed that all the money and time I’d spent on the food was basically wasted.
After I calmed down I called the school to let them know that it was still in their fridge and to ask if I could please have my bento box back. To my surprise, they actually had the class eat it. The poor kids. That inarizushi had been in the fridge for over 24 hours. I can’t imagine it tasted all that great. It’s nice that they got to see it though.
I was also informed by CasaBento that my bento made it into their contest in “Part 2″. I’m not sure what this is, but if you’d like to vote for my bento, you just have to “Like” it on CasaBento’s Facebook page.

My name is Crystal Watanabe and I'm 32 years old, living in Honolulu, Hawaii with my husband and two children. I have an addictive personality and that's a terrible thing when you're into cute bentos. I own over 200 bento boxes and way too many bento accessories!.
I’m the Office Manager at an Elementary School. Forgetting food that is sent to the school is a HUGE breach in customer relations. If we do nothing at all during a critical week like the Winter Break week, we make sure ALL food is taken to the class and child immediately. Letting something like this get forgotten or put aside not only tells the parent they are unimportant but also gives the child a sense of neglect. When we personally deliver a bag of chips or something as special as a hand made tray of cookies to a classroom and announce that “Jack’s mom sent this”, that child’s face lights up and you can see the pride in them that their Mom or Dad came through for them. This is not acceptable in my book, so sorry that it happened to you.

I do love 5 minutes bento, they are so realistic! Everybody can’t be 3 hours in the kitchen every day. Cute bento are nice sometimes but 5 minutes are daily.
I love your style!

wow! That was so rude of the school and then for them to act like it was nothing. It would take me a few moments to get over that one. I’m stopping by to find out about bentos and was referred by someone else! Thanks for the post!
