Vegas and the Twilight Slowpoke

Posted by on Jul 27, 2009 in Bento, Garden, life, Pasta, Shrimp | 13 comments

Just to warn people, this blog post is going to be epicly long. As people that follow me on Twitter know, I haven’t been posting because I had to take a trip up to Vegas last weekend with my brother to visit my mom, who was feeling down and out and lonely. I spent four days up there and have concluded the following: Buffets should be outlawed. Or, at the very least, they should post “No Pikko” signs outside. I went to two while there and probably ate a week’s worth of calories. The cute, fun stuff I remember is gone. No Star Trek at Hilton and no Race for Atlantis at Caesar’s. Boo! Everywhere you go there’s construction and according to my mom, a lot of it is halted due to lack of funds. It makes Vegas look...

Frog Onigiri Bento (305)

Posted by on Feb 11, 2009 in Bento, Kids, Pork | 6 comments

If you haven’t done so yet, be sure to vote in my 200k Bento Contest! I’ve also got the Furikake Frenzy going on all this month. The kid hilarity continued again this morning when Buddy suddenly yells in the car, “MOMMY! THERE’S DUST!!” He starts slapping his hands together to get the particles and then transitioned to karate chops and kicks. I told him to yell too, so he starts furiously attacking the flying dust particles going, “HI YAH! YAH!” The wild, crazed look in his eyes had me in stitches, so I took some video. You know, to show at his wedding later. Today I’m having leftover tonkatsu with frog onigiri and a salad on the side. This one took me a while because I was making pancakes this morning, but things went pretty smoothly because I decided...

Beef Stroganoff Bento (160)

Posted by on Dec 18, 2007 in Beef, Bento | 2 comments

Last night we had beef stroganoff, which I really love. Still, this was a really rough bento to pretty up because it’s appearance in general is just very gray and pasty looking, but I managed to figure something out. Not my best bento, but still better than what it looked like on its own! The picture is a bit blurry, sorries! Anyway, as you can see from the photo, I used Ancient Peas. These are not a special variety, I mean these have been in my freezer for quite some time and have been given one last chance for glory before retiring. Some still look fresh, obviously these are the ones that decided to try Botox for Peas. I topped it with three simple sakura carrots for color and frilliness. One week until Christmas and here I am with...

Chickie Egg with Mochi Bento (105)

Posted by on Sep 5, 2007 in Bento | 1 comment

We ate yummy lasagna last night but I actually FORGOT to pack some for lunch. *sob* The one my MIL makes is the Stouffer’s Meat and Sauce lasagna and it is sooooo yummy. I like to make turkey lasagna but this one is just so good I can never get enough of it. Too bad it’s like 6 points a piece, haha! Maybe it’s best I didn’t take any… Anyway, I had to start from scratch for today’s bento and so I took from a recipe I saw on Kitchen Cow since I had leftover peas to use. I was freaking AMAZED. For once I fried some eggs and they turned out ok. They did not stick to the pan like Baby Girl to my legs and came out nice and crumbly. The only change I made to her...
